When We Are Closed
If you need medical advice when the surgery is closed please dial NHS 111.
NHS 111 is an integrated 24/7 urgent care service. Calls to NHS 111 from landlines and mobile phones are free and the service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Calls to NHS 111 are handled by a team of highly trained health advisors, supported by experienced clinicians. They use an appropriate clinical assessment system, NHS Pathways, to ask questions to assess and determine the most appropriate course of action without the need for re-triage. This includes ambulance dispatch, referral to a service within the NHS, referral to an alternative service and advice, reassurance and information, including self-care.
Patients are requested not to phone NHS 111 service for minor illnesses such as colds, sore throats, which are caused by viral infection and cannot be cured by antibiotics. With simple treatments patients normally get better within a 4 - 5 day period.
Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
